Hi, It's colder and colder these days. I don't want to leave from my bed.
Today I'll tell you about the book, 「Hyohon-baka」.
Hyohon means 'specimen' in Japanese. Also, baka means 'crazy'.
The author worked as mammal researcher at National Science Museum.
He loves to collect carcass and make specimen. In the book, the role of national museums and his daily life about specimen is written.
To begin with, why I seleceted the book is simply I like to natural history. When I first found the book on the Internet, I felt like to read it. Now, I'm glad to have read the book.
Personally, I thought it interesting that which specmen be to be classified into lucky round number like 30000. *1
For example, 30000th specman is Giant panda (Ailuropoda melanoleuca) named huei-huei. 100th is Japanese wolf (Canis lupus hodophilax).
He also points out that the number of ribs are different between mammals.
From the book, I feel his enthusiasm for specimens a lot. He is cool and I can't
imitate him!!
After finishing reading, I understand more about specimen and museum.
